California Workplace Violence Prevention Plan
06/14/2024Late last year California passed a law that requires virtually all employers to develop, implement and maintain an effective, written workplace violence prevention plan (“WVPP”) by July 1, 2024. Cal OSHA recently published guidance to assist employers in complying with this law. The guidance includes a model workplace violence prevention plan and fact sheets for employers and employees. The guidance can be found here: https://www.dir.ca.gov/dosh/Workplace-Violence.html.
There are a few exemptions from the requirement to have a WVPP: (1) places of employment with fewer than 10 employees and not accessible to the public, (2) employees teleworking from locations of their choice and not under the control of their employers, and (3) certain healthcare facilities.
Please let us know if you have any questions about these new requirements.
