William C. Vanderbilt
Partner, Dallas
William Vanderbilt concentrates his practice on counseling insurance companies through all levels of contractual and extracontractual litigation.
He provides sophisticated representation to insurers in complex insurance-coverage disputes involving defective construction, environmental disasters, oil-well explosions, motor-vehicle collisions, healthcare, and other commercial-insurance matters. From start to finish, William works tirelessly to achieve the best possible outcomes for his clients, including evaluating and simplifying coverage issues and exposure, pursuing additional-insured coverage and transferring risk, scrutinizing settlements demands within the purview of Stowers, and enforcing clients’ contractual rights in state and federal courts.Despite the intricacies of insurance-coverage litigation, William preaches accessibility and thoroughness. His goal with every pleading, brief, coverage opinion, and written product is to convey an argument or evaluation in plain English that any person can understand, without sacrificing substance. He believes that conciseness, mastery of the rules and law, and forethought lead to better results for clients, and that is his approach in each case.
William joined the firm as a clerk after completing his undergraduate studies at the University of Texas at Austin. Encouraged by his exposure to legal practice, William enrolled at the Southern Methodist University Dedman School of Law, where he developed interests in insurance law and federal-court practice—areas in which William refined his skills throughout law school as an esteemed member the firm’s insurance group. Upon graduation and admittance to the State Bar of Texas in 2018, William accepted an associate position with the firm, with an unmatched knowledge and skill set in insurance law among his peers.
