Mary Kilany

Legal Experience

Ms. Kilany has represented insurance and other corporate clients in a variety of complex commercial litigation matters, in both federal and state court. Ms. Kilany’s primary practice focus is on providing counsel and representation to major insurance clients at all stages of insurance coverage determinations and disputes, ranging from insurance coverage counseling and pre-litigation investigation (including analysis of duty of defend issues and efficient preparation of reservation of rights and coverage position letters) to aggressive litigation of such insurance coverage disputes in federal court. Ms. Kilany has successfully advised and represented insurance clients in a substantial number of matters involving:

  • complex, multi-party construction defect claims (both in investigation and litigation);
  • commercial property damage claims;
  • major bodily injury losses;
  • analysis of complex additional insured and multi-party indemnity issues; and
  • bad faith, insurance code, and deceptive trade practices claims alleged against insurers.
Ms. Kilany has also advised insurance clients regarding best practices with respect to insurance policy provisions, endorsements, and exclusions, and has worked with and analyzed commercial general liability policies, property policies, and business auto policies.
